Muscular dystrophy (MD) is a progressive inherited condition which leads to muscle weakness and disability. It results from a change in the genes which control the stability and functioning of muscles. Progressive muscle weakness is one of the main symptoms of muscular dystrophy and other common symptoms include difficulty in walking, muscle pain and stiffness. There is no cure for muscular dystrophy and treatment aims at managing the symptoms.
